Anthony Wills, Jr.: actor and playwright, song-and-dance man, is there anything he can't do?

Yes, he couldn't keep himself from submitting a six-line scene, excerpted from his play Eddie Falls.

This past May, Anthony played the role of Moose in the Brave New World production of On the Waterfront (smoldering!), which was a site-specific piece. I for one am completely hot for site-specific productions and their lovely, one-time-only immediacy. And who doesn't drool over a good old-fashioned well-made story about corruption and racketeering (btw, the word racketeering was supposedly coined in Chicago. Who'da thought**)?

To the disappointment of many a NY theater, Anthony's already booked for much of the year. But we can benefit from seeing his work in the meantime.

(Marie and Eddie dance. Marie attempts to seduce Eddie. Eddie is taken in by it and it becomes very sensual. This is too much for Marie and she pushes him away. She gets even more upset when he just starts to leave. She tries to get him back but he is has had enough.)

Marie: Don’t you want my love?

Eddie: That was enough of your love.

Marie: But that was only a moment.

Eddie: A moment, a lifetime it is what it is.

Marie: You don’t love me.
(Marie starts to cry)

Eddie: I do. It’s just. Okay, give me your love.

(Marie gives him a small object probably a balloon or something that can stretch; they try to stretch her love until it explodes or falls apart. They try again and again until she realizes that that is all the love that she can give is a small unstretched love, a moment. Eddie is pleased with a little love, he kisses her on the cheek, they walk away from each other to opposites sides of the stage, they look back for a moment and exit.)
